Interns work on defined research projects in areas such as haptics, human-robot interaction, machine learning, microrobotics or soft robotics, in collaboration with one of our departments, research groups or central scientific facilities.
The program is based at the MPI-IS Stuttgart site, with all core activities taking place here.
Yes. Applicants must be actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program during the application process.
No. The program is open to students of all nationalities. Applicants from low- and middle-income countries or those who have faced barriers to research opportunities are especially encouraged to apply.
The call for applications opens in the fall each year. Applications are submitted through our online portal, where you can select the project(s) you’re interested in.
Yes. Interns receive a monthly salary to cover living expenses during their stay.
Housing is not provided, but we assist interns in finding accommodation.
Internships can last up to 90 days, with flexible start and end dates. July is the core month when all interns are on-site for the main program activities.
No, your application will not be considered unless you submit it by the deadline on the portal.
